Sweet Little Boy!!

I have the sweetest little boy. Yesterday we had a thunder storm that lasted for about two hours. It was still early in the morning and the sky was very dark again, so I decided to go back to sleep for a little while. Justin was watching cartoons in our bedroom so I lay down in his room. At some point Justin came into his room to get a toy. When his door is shut it sticks and is load when you open it. I did not move when he came in and my eyes were still closed so he did not know that I had wakened up. The next thing that I heard was Justin whispering, “Tippy-toe, tippy-toe, tippy-toe.” He then found the toy he was after and started to leave his room. (Crash, bang), something had fallen. (Boom), he tripped over the dresser drawer he had left open. Then I hear him whispering “Tippy-toe, tippy-toe, tippy-toe.” And his door shut. A few minutes later I got up and Kenny told me that Justin came out of his room and said “I almost woke mommy up.” Then Justin told me he was looking at me the whole time trying to make sure he did not wake me. He is so sweet!!

Kindergarten Blues

Justin is very upset that he only has one more day left of kindergarten. Crying, “I don’t want to go to first grade, I want to stay in kindergarten".He says he will miss Mrs. Simmons and all of his friends in kindergarten. (This is the total opposite of "I don't want to go to school" and some times actually having to carry him to school). Kenny and I tried to comfort him by telling him that he will see all his friends in first grade and that all his teachers will be at the school while he is in first grade. I also told him that he will have the whole summer off from school before he goes into first grade.

I have to admit I am really sad about this too. However, I am looking forward to celebrating his accomplishments with him. He is growing up so fast. Kenny and I were talking to Justin about how smart he is because I don’t think public schools were teaching kids how to read until first grade. At least that is when I remember learning how to read. The first book he read completely by himself was Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Sues. Justin can write many sentences. (The spelling is very cute, he spells better than i do). Here is a picture he drew of our house and his cousins house.

"we will go to me cuostens so thay can cum to play at my house. and if one wons to go bake my daddy will drop off thum".

He is adding and subtracting numbers under 10. He has learned some fractions. He can count to 100 by ones, fives and tens. He amazes me every day. I know I am bragging a little (oh ok, maybe a lot!) but I am so thankful and proud, that he seems to be doing better in the first year of elementary school than I did when I was in first grade. His teachers have been wonderful. And Justin has worked very hard.

I will try to post pics from his Moving-up ceremony tomorrow evening.

Other Intentions

We came home one day to see very large boxes sitting in the yard from new appliances being delivered to other apartments in our neighborhood and I thought to myself, “Wow would Justin have fun with that.” So Kenny and I proceeded to bring in a box the size of a refrigerator. Let me tell you, Justin flipped when he returned home from school and immediately wanted windows and a door carved into it. I happily obliged. :) We have played ninja, star wars, hide and seek and many other imaginary things with this box as all the toys he has acquired over the years sit in his room. Give a child a box and he ignores all his toys.

As time passed he began to play with his toys again and the box has just been in his room.(we have had it now for about six months) I asked him if we could throw it out and he said. “Mommy you can’t throw it out it is my base.” So I left it in his room for a few more days. Two days ago I pulled the box out of his room and asked him if he wanted any changes made to his base and of course he did (what was I thinking). So I dug around for the utility knife as he was describing to me what he wanted to do. I was cutting out a rather large hole when Kenny Said “be careful, pretty soon there will not be anything left of that box.” I looked over at him and grinned. (Do you see were this is going? I am so awfull) Well I took some pictures for you to see. He really was having a great time even though he looks bored out of his mind. :)

Lately he has been waking up in the night to come into our bed but the night he fell asleep in his box he slept all night.
